چکیده
There has been growing interest in virtual teams, and more specifically in virtual software development. Requirements engineering, which is a crucial phase in software development provides another dimension when software development occurs in a virtual domain. While formal software development methods are the obvious first choice for project managers to ensure a virtual software development team remains on track, the social and cultural aspects of requirements engineering cannot be ignored. These social aspects are especially important across different cultures, and have been shown to affect the success of an information system. The discussion in this paper is centred around the requirements engineering processes of a virtual team in a Thai Software House. This paper proposes a framework indicating that project managers need to encourage a balance between formal methods and social aspects in requirements engineering for virtual team members Jo Hanisch, Theerasak Thanasankit, Brian Corbitt

Requirements Engineering During Global Software Development: Some Impediments to the Requirements Engineering Process: a case study
Requirements engineering is not straightforward for any software development team. Developing software when team members are located in widely distributed geographic locations poses many challenges for developers, particularly during the requirements engineering phase. This paper reports on a case study concerning a large software development project that was completed in just seven months betw...

متن کاملIntegrating Organizational Requirements and Socio-Intentional Architectural Styles
Software systems of today are characterized by increasing size, complexity, distribution, heterogeneity, and lifespan. Understanding and supporting the interaction between software requirements and architectures remains one of the challenging problems in software engineering research. To address these challenges we are proposing an integration framework developed within the context of the Tropo...
متن کاملCultural Diversity, Conflict and Team Facilitation in Global Virtual Teams - a research model
Virtual teams are work groups linked together via computer and communication technologies. Since virtual teams are often spread over geographic and organizational boundaries, team diversity makes them susceptible to greater levels of conflict than face-to-face teams. This paper proposes a research model to understand the influence of cultural diversity on conflict in virtual teams, which in tur...
متن کاملInvestigating Cultural Differences in Virtual Software Teams
Software development projects increasingly extend over the boundaries set by a single company, or country. As the available communication media becomes more sophisticated, and more advanced technology costs less, the trends in software development move towards a more “virtual” nature. This evolutionary process allows individuals or even teams from different locations and cultures, with differen...
